About Dr. Hazan
Born in 1955, Dr. Alain Hazan studied in Paris. After graduating from the Yabne School he passed the competitive entrance examination to study medicine at Paris VI University in 1974.
In 1981 he passed the entrance examination for hospital work (concours d’internat) of the hospitals of the Paris health region and in 1987 completed his hospital training in Otolaryngology (ENT)–Head and Neck Surgery.
In 1987 he qualified in ENT and head and neck surgery according to the new valid European standards.
From 1987 to 1989 he served as Associate Clinical Director in head and neck surgical department Montfermeil hospital where he remained until 1998 as hospital practitioner grade number 7.
In this department, Dr. Hazan was among the first to develop endoscopic sinus surgery and its numerous applications. In 1994, with Head of the Neurosurgery Department at Sainte Anne Hospital in Paris, he developed skull base tumor surgery by dual surgeon team, endoscopic closure of meningeal breaches, and finally endoscopic surgical treatment of pituitary tumors. He was also among the first to practice endoscopic dacryocystorhinotomy (opening of the lacrimal sac), leaving the patient with no external scar.
On a parallel to his residency, he also followed courses in cosmetic surgery given by Dr. Faivre whose school was part of the Montreuil Hospital ENT department. He thus performed his first rhinoplasties in 1985.
In 1990 he obtained a diploma in cosmetic face surgery and was one of the first to perform endoscopic temporal lift leaving no temporal scar.
Dr. Alain Hazan has always been interested in rhinoplasty, considering it one of the most interesting surgical procedures, firstly because of its complexity and then because of the different aesthetic, anatomical, psychological and profile elements to be taken into account in order to obtain a natural result.
In 1998 he made Aliyah and was appointed as hospital practitioner in Head and Neck Surgery Department at the Rabin Hospital Center. There he contributed his experience and French know-how and is still proud today of being at the origin of a flourishing French-Israeli cooperation that did not exist before his arrival. Indeed, since he came to the department in 1998, Dr. Hazan has brought together Israeli and French ENT specialists. He sent the first Israeli to intern ENT department at the Fondation Rothschild Hospital, even before an official French-Israeli Association gave the possibility to Israeli interns of training in cutting-edge fields in the Paris hospitals.

In the field of cancer of the larynx, developing partial laryngeal surgery with the aim of conserving speech and swallowing function.
In the endoscopic field he performed the first endoscopic lacrimal sac openings in Israel, a procedure avoiding visible facial scarring and limiting the complications of invasive surgery; in the field of thyroid surgery Dr. Hazan participated in the first endoscopic interventions to limit detachment and the resultant complications and to shorten the scar down to 1 1/2 cm.
In middle ear surgery, he was among the first to close eardrum perforations by cartilage transplant, simplifying the surgical procedure on the middle ear, minimizing the complications, maximizing the success rates and increasing the hearing improvement percentage.
In nose surgery he brought his experience of nose reconstruction surgery by costal or conchal cartilage graft either after cosmetic surgery with insufficient results or after excision of tumor. In this department he performed the first nasal valve reconstructions.
Finally and principally he daily carries out his surgery teaching obligation and seems therefore to be known and esteemed among young specialists.
Dr. Hazan continues to exercise in this department and considers his work at the hospital as a guarantee of bringing his patients the best of his art.
